Just stopped by on my way north. First time in a year or so ! Since changing jobs. Kev is trying to expand to a sit in diner but outside at the moment or use the horsebox !! (I didn't see a toilet at the moment). Food is still nice and Kev is still a good laugh and worth chatting with. The next stop off has very limited parking for hgv trucks but good for bikes and you can sit in the café.

Bear with me on this. It's a caravan in a layby, run by 'Kevlar' (a nickname indicating nothing sticks). 'Kev' used to drive car transporters, and had a business called Kar Delivery Services. When he switched to the food business, he wanted a name which would allow the use of the merchandising materials from the previous business (KDS) and hence Kevlars Dining Shack. OK. The food. If you ask for a bacon and egg roll, he wants to know whether the bacon should be crispy or not, and the egg hard or soft. The roll is white, no choice, sadly. You can have butter, but as it's applied he'll tell you it isn't. I'm giving him 5 stars, but I'm pretty sure that a visit by the council food safety people would result in a procedural recommendation or two. If that's a problem for you there's a Tesco in Southam with a cafe which does similar stuff. The menu is based on Kev's experience as a lorry driver - he "knows what they like". DO - ask about provenance - he's proud of the butchers sausages DONT - lick the sugar spoon ! Bottom line - I regularly stop, and always enjoy the food and the experience. STOP PRESS!!! Chips now available !!!

I have always driven past Kevlars Dining Shack in the course of my day to day work. I would never have imagined that my taste buds would be given such royal treatment in the middle of nowhere. I raise my hands in respect to Kev and his fantastic caravan kitchen. Long live the man who’s not only providing an essential service but shows that he has found his calling in life through the passion he has for the job at hand and his excellence in customer service. He has obviously been doing this for a long time because he knows how to deal with customers. It was my first time seeing him but we chatted like old friends. Funny enough, as we were talking someone driving past on the road hooted and waved, perhaps as a testament to the good man that he is. My order was prepared with speed and perfection. I rate very highly the burger I ordered. Wow, Kevlar’s are on their game. Needless to say I’ll certainly be visiting the Dining Shack many times. I have to try the various other options that are on their very comprehensive menu. On the experience of my first visit, I highly recommend this great food outlet.

Been a while since I have been but have stopped off on my way to go fishing at Clattercote Reservoir which isn’t far away from the lay-by. First time stopped there for a coffee and a breakfast roll it didn’t disappoint and ended being a standard stop off for me and my mate every time we went to fish at Clattercote, decent brew, quality munch and a talkative friendly bloke who runs it, always got a smile on his face. Cash or card taken and always people there whenever I have been. Seems like he has a lot of regulars and has been there for many years now when many other food vans in the area have come and gone, this says something about the quality of what he produces. Recommended to stop off and visit if going past there
